(Washington, DC) -- Centri Tech, a social enterprise dedicated to mobilizing the full potential of technology to improve lives, welcomes Marta Urquilla as president of the Centri Tech Foundation, the company’s nonprofit arm. Marta will lead efforts to promote digital adoption strategies that advance social and economic outcomes for communities. Marta brings extensive experience in the design, implementation, and scale of solutions for social impact.
At Centri Tech Foundation, Marta will head the company's programs that match people to emerging opportunities in tech. A social entrepreneur with a policy background, she is an accomplished and visionary leader with experience both developing and managing innovative programs that invest in the capacity of people and places.
“We are thrilled to have Marta on board to bring her vast knowledge and expertise to the design of new workforce and human capital initiatives,” David Saunier, Co-Founder, stated, adding that, “Marta has demonstrated an ability to build quality experiences that put people on a path to opportunity. With her know-how and drive to get things done, she will harvest the limitless options and opportunities that Centri Tech Foundation provides to create smart solutions to our most pressing problems.”
Marta joins Centri Tech from the Education Design Lab, where as chief program officer she led the creation of new education to workforce models. She was previously the Deputy Director at the Beeck Center for Social Impact + Innovation at Georgetown University. Marta served in the White House Office of Social Innovation and Participation, as well as with the Corporation for National and Community Service, the Technology, Innovation & Government Reform Policy Working Group for the Obama-Biden Presidential Transition Team, and the Advisory Council of the Millenium Challenge Corporation. She has led and advised various federal efforts focused on community outcomes, including the launch of the Social Innovation Fund. Her current board memberships include Urban Alliance, Education Design Lab, and Green Schoolyards America. She is an Echoing Green Fellow. Marta’s experiences will help direct and guide Centri Tech Foundation toward their goals of ensuring meaningful utilization of technology integration into the lives of individuals and communities in need.
"Being a part of a forward-thinking innovative company that is seeking to advance impact through digital tools, with a proven track record in the field of digital technology integration, excites me and allows me the opportunity to imagine and create new solutions that fully connect people and places to the digital economy once and for all. As COVID-19 has shown us, the nature of work is changing, education is inaccessible to most, and, without technology, low-income and underinvested communities cannot succeed in the digital economy. I look forward to providing lasting solutions for digital advancement that result in skills, employment and pathways for social and economic mobility. Today’s world demands not only that we close the loop on connectivity, but that we do so in ways that enable people to live, work, and learn -- and, above all, thrive,” said Marta Urquilla.
